Become a Bicycle Safety Instructor

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM), in cooperation with the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT), is offering several one-day courses across Maine to train teachers, police, medical professionals, health educators, and volunteers how to most effectively teach bike safety in their schools. The 8-hour course qualifies for 1 CEU and will be taught by several of Maine's leading Bicycle Safety Educators. The all-day workshop covers:

  • Child Development and Bicycling
  • Helmet Fitting and Use
  • Dressing for Safety
  • Bicycle Equipment Safety Check
  • Rules of the Road
  • Basic Driving Skills and Safety Maneuvers
  • Review of Resources and Materials
  • Incorporating Bicycling into your Curriculum /Program

The course is FREE, and lunch is provided. This is a hands-on and on-bike program. YOU MUST BRING A BICYCLE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION AND A HELMET THAT FITS YOU.
