Ride for Hospice 2015

August 22, 2015

The Ride for Hospice is a special event that benefits the continued development of excellent end of life care for the people of Maine. From its origin as the Dan Michaud Memorial Ride (DMMR), the Ride for Hospice honors our loved ones through a spirit of celebration and gratitude. The Ride is an opportunity to connect with others who have been touched by hospice, whether as a family member, friend, volunteer, professional, or patient! The Ride is sponsored by the Maine Hospice Council, the only organization dedicated to providing advocacy and education about end of life issues for the general public and state hospice programs, both Medicare-certified and volunteer-based. The Council provides unique educational opportunities addressing the needs of under-served populations, including veterans, rural residents, and incarcerated individuals facing the end of life. The Council also provides education and consultation on a host of other topics, including grief and bereavement, advance care planning, pain management, effective communication, policy development, and more.
Registration for the Ride for Hospice opens in April at www.mainehospicecouncil.org. Riders can participate for $25 with a minimum of $150 in pledges, or for a minimum contribution of $175 from those who prefer not to fundraise (but there are exciting prizes for top fundraisers!). The registration fee includes lunch and a limited edition t-shirt, and there are beautiful routes for riders of all levels, including 13, 25, 50, and 100 mile treks. Donations and volunteer hours are welcome from those who cannot ride! Contact info@mainehospicecouncil.org with questions… we can’t wait to see you on August 22nd in Brunswick!
