Pedal to The American Folk Festival on
the Bangor Waterfront
Bangor, Maine, August 22-24, 2008
The American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront will again bring a multi-cultural celebration of traditional music and dance to the Queen City on August 22-24, 2008. The city's waterfront parks will be filled with music and dance groups performing on five stages, traditional arts and crafts from around the region, and an active children's area. Admission is free to all performances, demonstrations and workshops.
The Bicycle Coalition of Maine once again will help limit traffic congestion for the event by providing convenient Valet Bicycle Parking and promoting Park and Pedal options. It is our hope that ALL attending BCM members will show their support for bicycling in Maine by choosing to pedal to the Folk Festival with their friends and family. To make things even easier, we have "Park and Pedal" locations coming from each direction, with distances ranging from a child-friendly 1-mile ride to 12 miles from the center of the festival.
It's easy and enjoyable to volunteer as a Bicycle Valet. Our valet parking area is conveniently located within dancing distance of several music stages, and a large canopy protects volunteers from the sun when they are not actually parking bikes. There are enough people per shift to permit all volunteers to take short breaks as desired. It's a great opportunity to meet other cool Maine bicyclists, and get a free souvenir Folk Festival T-shirt and bracelet. Click here to sign up as a Bicycle Valet volunteer.
