WELCOME!

Riding your bicycle can be great fun. But do you know how to "drive" your bike? We created this special area of our Web site just for you. It's filled with information to help you be safe and have fun when you ride your bike.

Maine Safe Routes to School

The Maine Safe Routes to School research project focuses on what needs to be done to increase students bicycling and walking to school. We are happy to include information here on the benefits of bicycling and walking to school as well as safety tips. This information will also be included in the future on the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) site. Stay tuned for updates!

Use these sneaker outlines as cut-outs to celebrate a student's walk to school. They are designed for students to decorate and then they can be hung on classroom or hallway walls. It's fun to see how many sneakers a school can generate!

A great way for a student to track his or her walk or bike to school: page stories, pictures, poems and a trip log make this journal come alive!

Driving on the roads requires care and courtesy whether you are driving a car or a bicycle. As road users, bicyclists must be predictable and obey all traffic laws by riding in a responsible manner. Below are a few links to bicycle driving rules so you can do your part.
