Why Bike or Walk to School?

Bicycling and walking are HEALTHY ways to get to school. Almost half of all young people do not get regular exercise!

Bicycling and walking are SMART ways to get to school. Kids who bike or walk learn how to get around their neighborhood on their own. They develop a better understanding of space, distance, and direction. They also are more likely to learn how to read or use maps.

Bicycling and walking are CLEAN ways to get to school. Bicycling and walking create no pollution. When biking and walking, you also get familiar with the nature around you. Listen for birds, look at the trees, smell the flowers!

Bicycling and walking are SAFE ways to get to school if you follow basic safety rules.
