Be a Lobster Ride and Roll Sponsor!

The Maine Lobster Ride & Roll, the premier event of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, will return to Rockland on July 26, 2008. Marketed to tens of thousands, the event will attract over 750 bicyclists from across Maine, the United States, and Canada. Now the largest single-day bicycling event in the state, the Maine Lobster Ride is a fundraiser to support the Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s important bike safety and education programs that have reached over 80,000 of Maine’s youth, to promote Maine as a bicycle tourism destination, and to develop trails and improved roads across Maine.

We invite you to be a sponsor of the Maine Lobster Ride & Roll.

This is an excellent marketing opportunity that also benefits bicycling, safety education, and bicycle tourism in Maine. With sponsorship, we offer your company a unique marketing opportunity to promote your business to a very desirable audience. This event is marketed heavily to an ever-expanding state and national pool of bicyclists, a group that research shows to have greater financial means, greater health, and greater civic engagement.

About The Maine Lobster Ride & Roll

This event, now in its 7th year, features Maine’s most scenic bike rides along winding country lanes with breathtaking views of the rockbound coast of Maine. The ride offers four marked routes from 16 to 100 miles long, support services, rest stops with food and water, and a fresh Maine lobster roll dinner at the finish. The Maine Lobster Ride & Roll is a fine-tuned event with a 6-year track record of success and strong growth. In 2008 we expect to draw over 750 participants based on an average 20% growth each year. This incredible growth is due both to our strong reputation and strategic regional and national marketing.

In 2007, a record 625 bicyclists and 80 volunteers participated in the event. Additional family and friends accompanied them to the area – making a day of food, entertainment and shopping in the Midcoast area. In 2008, we expect this growth to continue as we increase our marketing along the Midcoast, across Maine, throughout New England and nationally through the Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s popular web site, 20,000 event brochures, press releases, 300 posters, feature stories, targeted emails, mailings to our 6,000 constituents, outreach to the 43,000 members of the Adventure Cycling Association and magazine advertising in national publications such as Bicycling Magazine, Adventure Cycling, East Coast Bike Culture, and more.

Why Market Your Business to Bicyclists?

  • There are more bicyclists in the U.S. than skiers, golfers, and tennis players combined
  • 41% of bicyclists have a household income of $40,000 to $79,000 and 24% have a household income of $80,000 or more
  • 16.5 million bicyclists live in the Northeast, within a day’s drive of Maine

You can choose among many sponsorship levels to show your support of this ride and promote your business. Please let us know by January 31, 2008. Thanks again for your consideration and please contact Deborah Ladner at 623-4511 if you have any questions.
