A celebration of original Earth sensitive sculpture by 50 artists from New England with over 100 works sited in gardens, meadows and country home.
"Sculpture enlivens its setting and helps us become more aware of elemental forces and the inner nature of materials. With these shows I hope to help awaken the senses and make us more mindful of our connections with Earth." June LaCombe

Part 2 - Yarmouth - start at 1:00

Please note that all stops are time sensitive. Please comply with the time requirements if stated.

1. Scott Simons - Tour of Award Winning House:
206 Hillside St, Yarmouth
Please visit here between 1:00 and 2:00 pm.
"The Hillside House was conceived as a fusion between vernacular forms and modernism. The combination of New England roof lines and materials with open, spacious, light filled rooms creates a dynamic tension between old and new. The house was built in 1998 and has been featured in over 25 books, magazines, and other publications.
The interior space is enhanced with a series of sculptures and ceramics by Will Simons, who is currently a studio arts major at the University of California at Santa Barbara."

2. 317 Main St Community Music Center
317 Main Street, Yarmouth
Please visit here between 1:00 and 2:30 pm.
"Located in a recently renovated mid-nineteenth century, 'Italianate' style, former sea captain house, 317 Main Street Community Music Center is a place for young and old to come together to play music. The Center offers lessons in acoustic instruments, including guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and bass, as well as piano, flute and recorder. You will hear two of 317 Main Street's teachers, Jason Phelps and Nicole Rabata, play music. In addition, you will be able to view an art show in the Musician's Café. The show, titled 'Art Medley', features the work of area artists, including Cindy Asherman, David Burtt, Margareta McDonald, Dennis Stein, Anne Tarbox, and four Yarmouth High School students. The exhibit encompasses several mediums, including water color, oil, photography and sculpture.

3. John Orcutt Photography Exhibit - "Fragile Edges"
GrowSmart Maine office, Sparhawk Mill, 81 Bridge Street, Yarmouth
Please visit here between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
"Most of the exhibited images have been captured in local, state or national parks and other public lands, which offer easy access to the public. "The edges, where constant human traffic, often with pets, comes into close contact with preserved natural areas, are particularly vulnerable to environmental damage. Vigilant public awareness and ongoing education are the only tools we have to reduce the self-inflicted erosion on these places of fragile interface. By communicating my visions of these places to others, through striking graphic images, I hope to raise awareness of the need to tread lightly in these natural environments, which we make part of our every day lives."

4. Maine Cottage -"where color lives"
106 Lafayette Street, Lower Falls Landing, Yarmouth
Open until 5:00 pm
"Bring your bicycle down to Lower Falls Landing to be inspired by our luminous, artful Maine Cottage store nestled in a renovated sardine cannery along the Royal River. Our Maine Cottage store features two inviting spaces filled with colorful home furnishings in 40 stunning colors and 148 custom fabrics surrounded by an eclectic collection of artwork and sculpture by local artists including Gina Adams, Carol Bass, Martha Baum, Marilyn Blinkhorn, Holly Brooks, Laurie Hadlock, Beatrice Moore, Nance Parker, Phoebe Porteous, Jane Ryan, and Diane Shumway among others."

5. Carol Bass Paintings
Claytons, 447 Route 1, Yarmouth
"I love painting. I love moving around the forms that I paint. I love making boats that journey through woods and water and discover creatures along the way. I have no idea what I will paint when I begin. I know the story and the music will come while I work. I want to paint the energy right below the surface." www.carolbassart.com
Carol is a local artist and the cofounder and designer for Maine Cottage.

6. Mark Wethli mural and other work by local artists
Yarmouth High School 286 West Elm, Yarmouth
auditorium lobby
Please visit here between 3:00 to 4:00 pm
"Frieze", a mural measuring 7x32', was the result of a year-long collaboration between Mark Wethli and the students and faculty of Yarmouth High School. Sponsored by Yarmouth Arts, the mural was dedicated on June 16. 2005. "Freize" began with a series of workshops at the school, in which students--after learning some rudiments of color and design--created collages in response to a jazz piece by Yarmouth resident and acclaimed jazz musician Cecil McBee. The collages were then sectioned into squares which were then hand selected and re-arranged to produce the final design. The mural was painted by Mark Wethli with assistance from artists Kyle Durrie and Cassie Jones.

The high school library also has 3 large paintings, donated by local Yarmouth painters: Margaret Lawrence, Carol Bass, Grace DeGennaro. There is also a large clock 4 feet in diameter and of various media, created by Yarmouth students.

Thanks to all the artists who have made this ride possible and to Anne Swardlick of Yarmouth Arts who helped design the ride.
