Bicycle Coalition of Maine Presents Bicycle Safety Training for Police
Augusta, Maine –– The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is offering a four-hour training course for police officers covering such topics as a review of Maine laws pertaining to bicycling, helmet use and fit, rules of the road for both bicyclists and motorists and bike-specific issues in accident reporting and reconstruction.
The course is free to police departments under a contract between the Maine Department of Transportation and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. This year's training sessions will take place between June 11 and 29 at six locations throughout the state.
The schedule for the training sessions is:
- Presque Isle- June 11, 8 a.m. to noon
- York- June 19, 8 a.m. to noon
- Saco- June 19, 1-5 p.m.
- Skowhegan- June 21, 8 a.m. to noon
- Portland- June 25, 8 a.m. to noon
- Ogunquit- June 29, noon to 4 p.m.
