Eric Weinrich Appears in New "Share the Road" Ads
Eric Weinrich, the official spokesperson for the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, appears in a new series of "Share the Road" ads designed to educate motorists and bicyclists about road safety and a recently passed state bicycling law.
Weinrich, a well-known professional hockey player who plays and coaches for the Portland Pirates, filmed the ads earlier this spring. Half are geared toward motorists, while the other half are aimed at cyclists. They convey important safety information, including the provision in the new law that requires motorists to leave at least a three-foot clearance when passing bicyclists.
The Bicycle Coalition of Maine created the Share the Road campaign in partnership with state transportation agencies. WCSH6 is airing 74 spots between June 25 and July 8. Radio and television ads will appear on other stations throughout Maine later this year.
Advocating bicycling safety, education and access in Maine since 1992, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine is working to make Maine accessible and safe for all residents and visitors so they may comfortably and responsibly bicycle. The BCM also promotes bicycling for transportation, health, recreation and fun to enhance our communities, environment and economy.
