Ride for a purpose: Sign up for one of these Maine Charity Rides (Mainetoday.com)

By | Coalition News

By: Karen Beaudoin

Over the course of the summer and fall, there are always too many great rides on the cycling calendar to keep track of. And if you’re new to biking, it may be a bit overwhelming to decide which rides are the ones really worth signing up for.

Here’s a primer for those considering some of the charity rides Maine has to offer from someone who has experience with each of them:

June 1 – Maine Women’s Ride. A product of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (and a fundraiser for the nonprofit), this ride starts and finishes at L.L. Bean’s Casco Conference Center in Freeport. Choose either 10, 25, 50 or 62 miles along quiet roads with both coastal and country views. BCM offers rest stops, snacks and support vehicles and there will be music, massages and free munchies at the finish.
