Our Statement of Solidarity

In response to the recent events, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine would like to take a moment to acknowledge the inequality and injustice that black people, and all people of color, disproportionately face in the U.S. The BCM stands in solidarity with communities of color and condemns discrimination and racism in all its forms. We believe that all people—no matter what race, age, or ability—should be treated respectfully and be able to walk, bike, and live safely.

We are committed to listening and learning how to do this work right. To everyone experiencing the violence of racism daily: we see you, we love you, we mourn with you, and we will fight for you and your safety.
