Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Bangor

(Bangor, ME) February 19, 2025 – A Bangor man died Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Kenduskeag Avenue. The pedestrian, 69-year-old Jeffrey Green of Bangor, was hit by an SUV traveling south on Kenduskeag Avenue, near Glenwood Avenue, just before 7:00 p.m., according to a release from the Bangor Police Department.

The driver told police that a man appeared suddenly in the roadway, and seemed to be chasing a dog. Green died at the scene a short time later.

Bangor police detectives and evidence response technicians are reconstructing the accident. This case remains under investigation, according to the release. The driver of the SUV has been fully cooperative with police, officials said.

“This tragedy is a heartbreaking loss for the community,” said Paul Drinan, Active Transportation Director of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. “Every life lost on our roads leaves a profound impact on family, friends, and neighbors.
