Schoodic Peninsula Bike Ride

March 13 @ 10:30 am 12:00 pm

This is a benefit bike ride for Schoodic Arts for All. Participants can register online anytime or at Hammond Hall, in Winter Harbor on the morning of the ride from 9am to 10am on June 20th or (21st rain date). In past years we have averaged about 20 to 25 riders depending on weather conditions. We notify riders that they will need a National Park Pass. The majority of the participants park their vehicles in town when they register and ride to Frazer Point where the ride begins at 10:30. Or use the parking lot of the park headquarters. At Frazer Point we bicycle around the Peninsula on the Schoodic Loop road. Riders start out as a group but quickly disperse into groups of about 4 to 5. Cyclist are reminded that they need to stay in single file keeping a safe distance apart at all times. Some participants prefer to use the Schoodic Woods bike trails on the way back in small groups at a time. There will be people on call that can come with a vehicle if a rider is having difficulty completing the ride. Plus, I believe the ME. Island Explorer bus will be available as well. I am a retired Practical Nurse and will have a first aid kit with me. My husband and I will give our cell phone number out so riders will be able to contact us if a problem occurs. I will have a bicycle tire repair kit plus a few tools with me in case someone is having mechanical problems and encourage others to do the same. After the ride, usually around noon participants may bring their own lunch and have a picnic at Frazer Point. Likely we should be cleared out by 1pm.
