Webinar: Rural Solutions for Biking and Walking

October 21, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free
Maine is the most rural state in the nation, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau. But the nationwide trend has been toward a growth in urban populations. The same trend is evident in biking and walking innovations – they can sometimes seem increasingly focused on solutions for urban centers.
But by planning, designing, and constructing Complete Streets and working with regional and state transportation partners, communities of all sizes – even rural towns – are able to improve safety and access for bicyclists and walkers. On this month’s call we’ll hear about solutions that can bring about safer streets for the 61 % of Mainers that live in rural areas.
Featured Speakers:

  • Anne Ball, Maine Development Foundation
  • Nick Meltzer, Vermont Agency of Transportation
  • Kerry Irons, Adventure Cycling Association
