Help us grow and support earn-a-bike opportunities in Maine!
In October of 2021, Abe Furth of Orono Brewing Company will be riding his mountain bike from Maine to Washington, D.C. in an effort to get bikes into the hands of people who can’t afford them. An avid cyclist and believer in the benefits of bicycling for health, happiness, and transportation, Abe wants to share these benefits with people who wouldn’t otherwise have access.
Abe is partnering with the Bicycle Coalition of Maine to grow and support earn-a-bike opportunities in Maine. Funds raised will go directly to the launch of a new earn-a-bike program in Bangor and continue to support the highly successful “Bikes for All Mainers” program at the Portland Gear Hub.
The funds raised by Abe on his bike trip will provide the critical start-up costs needed for programming in the Bangor area, and will also provide funds to support the continued success of the Bikes for All Mainers program in Portland. Over the last seven years, the Portland program has grown from 30 students a year to nearly 100 in 2020. Please consider making a donation today to put a bike in the hands of someone who couldn’t otherwise get one!
Supporters can donate online via the form below, or send checks to the BCM at 38 Diamond Street, Portland, ME 04101 with “One Bike Can” in the memo line. Find out more about the earn-a-bike program details and history here.
