Level 3: Reaching the Top!

Build a culture of walking at your school by applying for the Maine Walking School Bus Program. This level of service includes all opportunities listed in Levels 1 and 2 as well as inclusion in the funded Maine Walking School Bus (WSB) Program which provides the following over the course of 2 years:

    • $10,000 stipend for an in-school WSB Coordinator ($5,000/year)
    • Assistance recruiting a WSB Coordinator
    • Assistance training a WSB Coordinator and volunteers
    • Ongoing technical assistance by Maine WSB staff (up to 2 hours/week)

Requirements: Population density of at least 1,000 people/sq mile within 1 mile of school (preferred), site visit and meeting with WSB staff, commitment of support for WSB Coordinator, commitment of assistance for communications, formal administrative buy-in; application process
