Webinar: How the MaineDOT’s Complete Streets Policy Can Work For You

April 15, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

On this month’s call we will learn about the Maine Department of Transportation’s “Complete Streets Policy,” officially adopted by the agency in June 2014. What does this policy cover and what will it change? What does the Department’s adoption of this policy mean for state road construction projects in your city or town? More importantly, how can citizens organize to make sure this policy is most effective in their community? On this call we will will hear from:

  • Robert McChesney, Community Spoke and Bath Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee. Robert organized a campaign in 2014 to make sure the new Complete Streets policy brought real improvements to a dangerous stretch of Route 1 in Woolwich.
  • Alison Hepler, Woolwich Town Council. Alison helped bring local elected officials on board with the Route 1 Campaign.
  • Paul Niehoff, Senior Planner, Portland Area Comprehensive Transportation System (PACTS). Paul helped plan and execute bicycle and pedestrian improvements to a stretch of East Broadway in South Portland as part of a standard repaving project on this state road.
