BikeMaine 2020: Katahdin Frontier

Our 2020 ride is bringing us to the Maine Highlands, where vast forests, pristine lakes, high summits, and tight knit communities will welcome us to a region brimming with unique history, ancient legends, and raw beauty.

Explore another side of Maine! We’ll bike through the area beloved by Appalachian trail hikers and written about by Henry David Thoreau. Maybe we’ll encounter Pamola, the protector bird spirit of Katahdin per Abenaki legend- and we’ll see why National Geographic recognized Mount Katahdin as one of the top ten summit hikes in the world.

The area is currently being revitalized from its industrial and mill-centric past to one in line with their communities’ needs for the future. Many groups are coming together to make positive socio-economic strides, as well as showcasing the beautiful landscape to those unfamiliar with the region.

See for yourself why the Highlands is the perfect place to escape for a week with BikeMaine!
