Casco Bay Bicycle Club – Beginners Ride

July 6, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

We’re trying something new on Wednesday evenings. Once a month, starting Wednesday, June 1st, we’ll be offering a beginner ride alongside our regular Wednesday group ride (the one that leaves from the Yarmouth Hannaford parking lot).

What is a beginner ride? Let’s say you love riding your bike and you’d like to meet other people to share this passion with. On the other hand, you’re not sure you want to put on lycra shorts, jam your feet into locking pedals, and ride in a cycling peloton. In keeping with our mission, Casco Bay Bicycle Club would like to introduce you to group cycling of another sort. You don’t have to be a speed demon, you don’t need a bicycle with drop handlebars, you don’t even need lycra shorts (although we do recommend them).

Steve Buxton (smarkbux@gmail.com) will be leading the beginner ride on the first Wednesday of each month, starting June 1st. Steve estimates that distances will be in the 8-10 mile range, but could be longer or shorter depending on the composition of the group. Steve will cover topics like safety, signals, road etiquette, and more. He may even show you his “cat ears” helmet attachments!

This ride does not replace our regular Wednesday ride, it merely provides another option on nights when it is held. Participants are encouraged to join the rest of gang post-ride for stories, food, and beverages at Romeo’s!

We hope to see you there, and bring a friend!
