Great Maine Bike Swap

Two Swaps are better than one! The Great Maine Bike Swap is back, and will take place at both the Gorham and Lewiston University of Southern Maine (USM) campuses this spring, providing even more Mainers with access to affordable bicycles.

WHERE & WHEN:

Lewiston USM Campus Swap: Sunday, April 24 from 11 am- 3 pm.

AND

Gorham USM Campus Swap: Sunday, June 12 from 11 am- 3 pm. Registration for the Gorham Swap is open! Click here to register your bike.

COST: $5 for everyone 12 and over to attend. Free for USM students with ID card. Please bring cash!

ABOUT: The Great Maine Bike Swap is a consignment-style bike sale hosted by the BCM and USM, that allows people to buy and sell used bicycles. Anyone can sign up to sell their bicycle(s) at the Swap. You price your bike using our online seller registration form, and if your bike sells, we will mail you a check (minus 15% commission to the BCM, which helps us be able to continue to put on this event).

Bike registration for Lewiston is now closed. If your bike sold, you will be receiving a check within two weeks. The registration fee is $5 per bike, and will be collected during drop-off. What kind of bikes are at the Swap? From gently used road bikes to retro cruisers, kids bikes, mountain bikes, gravel-grinders, to the occasional tandem, recumbent, and e-bikes, we’ve seen and sold it all! Not sure what you’re looking for? We have bike fit advisors available who can help you find the best new-to-you bike! A test-ride area complete with mechanics are on-site as well, so you can make sure the bike you’ve chosen is comfortable and in good working order before you take it home.

Volunteer Sign-up is open! We can’t put on the Swaps without your help, click here to sign-up for a shift at the Gorham Swap (thanks to everyone who signed up for Lewiston!) As a thank you, volunteers will have first dibs on purchasing bikes!

For more information on buying and selling, and what to expect, please see the FAQ page.
