How many times do you think you could get around without your car this July? Whether it’s riding your bike to work, running some errands on foot, or taking the bus to an appointment, there are so many ways to get where you need to be without using a single-occupancy vehicle.

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Portland Trails to bring you a fun new summer challenge! Join the People-Powered July Commuting Challenge and enjoy a full month of traveling as much as you can by walking, biking, or taking public transportation!

Participants in the People-Powered July Commuting Challenge will gain access to an exciting range of activities to keep the active transportation motivation going! Sign up and you’ll get these great benefits:

  • 50% discount on one adult registration for Portland Trails’ City at Your Feet Scavenger Hunt (July 15-16) – discover the Portland Trails network’s hidden gems while traveling car-free throughout the city
  • A free urban bicycling class taught by a certified BCM instructor – learn how to stay safe while navigating traffic on your bike*
  • One free pass to a fitness class with our friends at Form Lab*
  • Weekly motivational emails and reports about how you and your fellow participants are doing

*Limited space available

People-Powered July is also a fundraiser! By participating in the challenge, you’ll be supporting the work of not one, but TWO local non-profit organizations! Your contributions will improve conditions for biking and walking in Portland and across the entire state of Maine.

We don’t want the cost of this challenge to keep anyone from participating, so we’re offering sliding scale pricing. Please choose the price that feels like a comfortable donation amount for you, and don’t hesitate to reach out to mariah@bikemaine.org if cost is an issue for you.
