Person Killed by Truck at Worksite in Portland

(PORTLAND, Maine) July 11, 2023 – An employee was killed after being hit by a pickup truck at Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s vehicle service facility near the Portland Jetport. The 34 year old man was hit just after 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 10th.

“This tragic incident underscores the dangers of collisions between drivers and people walking, biking, or those otherwise especially vulnerable,” said Bicycle Coalition of Maine Executive Director Jean Sideris.

The victim was identified as Antonio Baptista-Tampini of Portland, the driver has not been identified. The police are still investigating the crash, which is currently being treated as a workplace fatality.

The BCM urges investigators to carefully examine the site conditions, behavior of those involved, as well as any additional circumstances that may have been contributing factors.
