Sanford Bike Fest

June 1, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Sanford Bike Fest begins 10 a.m. at Sanford YMCA. Multiple route options are available with the 1.3-mile section along city streets to be closed to car traffic.

The event aims to bring together casual and serious cyclists. Recumbent bikes, tandem bikes, e-bikes, antique bikes, cargo bikes, trick bikes and pedicabs are all welcome, said to Lee Burnett, chairperson of Sanford Trails.

“Bicycling is for all,” said Burnett. “Sanford Bike Fest is an opportunity for casual cyclists to bike  in a very safe environment. It also showcases a convenient route to get through town anytime.”

Bicycle safety checks are available, but not major bike repairs.

The route follows paved bike paths, packed gravel bike paths and city streets. There are options for one-mile loop trip, a three-mile trip to and from the downtown, or a seven-mile trip to and from the new Sanford High School / Regional Technical Center. The route is self-guided, although guides are available.
